![]() This place should remind us of our Creator, His Magnificence, and His Power. Maidan e Saleh has become a home for people who were destroyed by Azaab and the wrath of Allah. This place which is a sign of ibrat, should not be used as a place of enjoyment and amusement. This is in accordance with the prohibition that the Prophet Muhammad SAW has said about this place. Researchers agree that it is not safe for humans to stay there for long. This places the region at risk for earthquake damage, UV rays damage, various skin diseases, cancer, and natural storms. Nowadays, scientists have discovered a huge hole in the ozone layer of the atmosphere right above this destroyed area. The big earthquake that occurred thousands of years ago has also diminished the underground protective layer of the earth. Sahih al-Bukhari 4702 (Book 65, Hadith 224) He ordered them to drink water only from the one well used by the camel of Saleh A.S and forbade them to eat and drink anything from that area and pass through it rather quickly. When Prophet Muhammad PBUH passed by this place while going for the Battle of Tabuk, he specially pointed this place “al-Hijr“ (Al Ula or Maidan e Saleh) out to his companions as an ibrat. Prophet Muhammad PBUH Avoided Al Ula (Maidan e Saleh) “Thereupon a shocking catastrophe seized him so that they lay prostrate in their dwellings” Surah Al-A’raf verse 78Īll that remains are the massive buildings and monuments they carved out of the mountains and rocks, as we can still see today. Some of them believed in Saleh’s Prophethood, while others still refused it even though two of them killed the innocent camel.Īs a punishment for this, Allah also sent an earthquake in the middle of the night, which made them all dead, and none of them woke up ever again. Saleh ordered the Thamud people to be respectful to her. A she-camel appeared among them and gave birth to a calf. Saleh prayed, and a miracle happened with Allah’s permission. They challenged him to produce a camel out of the nearby rocks. However, instead of accepting Saleh, they challenged Saleh to perform a miracle to prove his Prophethood. Prophet Saleh (A.S) was then sent to guide them by Allah SWT, as narrated in the following Holy Quran: However, this abundant natural wealth made the rich people among the Thamud people become arrogant and cruel and liked to torture and kill the poor. It is said that this area used to be very fertile and green, which had sufficient grains and crops every year. In Islam, this place is also known as Maidan e Saleh, i.e., home to the nation of Thamud (nation of Thamud), the people of Prophet Saleh (AS) who were known for their miraculous strength and skill in making the mountain carvings and constructions we still can see today. Al Ula is also known as Maidan e Saleh (Home of Thamud) Now UNESCO recognizes it as one of its oldest heritage.Īccording to archaeologists, the construction on the mountain, as seen at that place, was not the work of ordinary people because nowadays, we use powerful machinery for that. The ancient mysterious place called Hegra or Al-Hijr is filled with huge mountains and amazingly beautiful construction carvings that have stayed untouched for centuries.

![]() The RRECS system was developed jointly by the union and the USPS in response to a 2012 arbitration decision. ![]() We need everyone to participate, and the ones who had route time increases aren’t willing to.” I wish we as postal workers would strike, but there are too many scared people to make an unofficial strike work. One rural carrier who supported strike action, referring to friends who are United Parcel (UPS) workers, told the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS), “ are preparing for a STRIKE. The second one was recently held in Arlington, Texas. The first was smothered with threats to workers’ jobs, and authorities issuing dispersal orders according to workers. They were initially set to go into effect on April 22.Īt least two carrier protest actions have been held since then. Rural carriers in every office were stunned and outraged when breathtaking pay slashes, determined by the 52-week RRECS route evaluations were announced. The result of the new RRECS count, imposed on carriers on May 6, proved to be drastically in the USPS’s favor. Traditionally, the evaluated hours could shift by a few hours every year or two. RRECS shifted what was previously a manual count of this mail, immediately visible to the carrier in the delivery unit, to an opaque electronic calculation. Unlike city carriers, who are paid hourly and are guaranteed eight hours daily, rural carriers are paid on what is called an “evaluated” system, under which each type of mail has varying amounts of time assigned based on the assessed difficulty of delivery. The draconian result, one year after it was negotiated, has caused massive pay cuts combined with barbaric forced labor increases for 90,000 of the rural carriers. The RRECS is an intricate, unclear and complicated formula to evaluate carriers’ routes as the basis of their compensation. ![]() The National Rural Letter Carriers Association (NRLCA), the union that covers 132,000 United States Postal Service (USPS) rural letter carriers, negotiated the Rural Route Evaluation Compensation System (RRECS) as part of last year’s contract with Trump-appointed Postmaster Louis DeJoy and the Biden administration. ![]() And while not the most important factor for performance, they also happen to look great on. Of the many, many leggings I own, I gravitate towards them routinely as a consistent favorite. They're lightweight, breathable, flexible, don't chafe, and I can forget that I'm wearing them. The MCS Run Tights fit the bill for me on great workout gear: they seem to improve my performance and cut down on recovery time, but, most importantly, they stay out of my way while I'm working out. ![]() Recovery times were shorter and I felt less fatigue in my muscles on the runs themselves. And even after a long break from distance running, I felt less sore after runs wearing these than I probably should have. Unlike many compressive tights I've worn in the past, this pair has always felt breathable and non-restrictive, even when I used them beyond their original purpose for moves like roundhouses in kickboxing. I wish they were less expensive (with most pairs landing in the $90 - $120 range), but they're competitively priced if you're currently shopping at other big-name brands (like Lululemon), which deliver on fit but not exactly on technical bonuses like the advantage of compression stamping. And if you're planning on taking them on a trial, it's nice to know there's a rear zip pocket for essentials.Īnd I have to say, even after taking them on more than a few runs (and out of their intended scope to many kickboxing classes), 2XU's compression tights continue to impress me. It's UPF50+ for sun protection, antibacterial, has reflective logos for nighttime visibility, and - most important to me during my workouts - has multi-directional stretch and breathability. The MCS Run Tight is made from lightweight but strong PWX fabrics and moisture-wicking, durable yarns that keep you dry and are meant to provide a longer-than-average lifespan. ![]() But while the mapping helps target these areas that come under the most strain during your chosen activity (running, for this pair) the PWX material lends all-over compression. The mapping on your calf is meant to reduce muscle strain, especially during the toe-off phase of running, as well as help to mitigate ground reaction forces by reducing your muscle movement. The design is meant to reduce the impact on your thighs and quadriceps and dissipate the load transfer to your knee joint. Muscle Containment Stamping designed to support the muscles most engaged while running.įor running, that mainly means thigh and calf mapping. The Run Compression Tight (from $119), for instance, uses a pattern developed specifically for the impact that running has on the leg. By honing in on specific muscles rather than a universal application, you'll experience greater overall mobility with the benefits of compression: reduced muscle soreness and fatigue, improved performance, and decreased recovery time and risk of injury. The company itself is best-known for award-winning compression gear.ĢXU's MCS line uses anatomical mapping (Muscle Containment Stamping) to target the muscles, tendons, and fascia groups used most during specific activities. The company recently sent their new MCS Run Tight for me to try (an update on an older design I've also tried), and I've been consistently impressed by their breathability, stretch, and comfort given their compression. If possible, they should minimize them.Īnd if you're looking for something to do more than simply not add hurdles to your exercise routine - but actually remove some - you may want to look into 2XU's MCS compression gear. Workouts are meant to be challenging and in part uncomfortable, and no one wants their clothes to augment these aspects of the experience. Unlike most areas of your closet, workout gear cannot rely on the benevolent ambiguity of what's "in" or the clout of brand recognition. When you're covered in sweat and tired and a little hungry in the 7:45 PM yoga class you signed up for a week ago, the thickness of your leggings takes on a heightened importance that you're not likely to miss (or forget. ![]() But, then again, I don't think most people are. I am not easy to please when it comes to workout gear. Unlike many compressive tights I've worn in the past, 2XU's newest MCS Run Tight (from $119) is impressively breathable and didn't feel restrictive, even when I used them beyond their original purpose for moves like roundhouses in kickboxing. It uses anatomical mapping for targeted support to muscles used most during your run.2XU's MCS Run Compression Tight uses the MCS compression pattern developed specifically for the impact that running has on the legs. ![]() The measurement for energy expenditure is dependent on activity level. Now there are a few basic things you must understand before you start using our calculator: 1. But, you don’t have to worry about it all because you simply just have to plug in your details and the calculator will take care of the rest. The BMR is then multiplied by a constant that represents an activity level. The BMR calculation takes sex, height, weight and age into consideration to determine a person’s metabolic rate. This important number is dependent on a person’s basal metabolic rate and his or her activity level. That way you can quickly find out your maintenance calories and make any adjustments you need to suit your health and fitness goals. The TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is a good indicator of how many calories a person must consume in order to maintain his or her current weight. Instead, your best bet is to save yourself loads of time and energy and use the calculator that we’ve pre-made for you above. TDEE = 1825 x 1.375 (light exercise 1-2 times per week) = 2509 kcal per day Our Advice – Use a TDEE CalculatorĪs you can see, whilst it is possible to calculate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure manually, it’s quite long-winded (which is pretty much it’s only major drawback) You work in an office, and you go to the gym twice per week, where you train hard.īMR = 10 x Weight (KG) + 6.25 x Height (CM) – 5 x Age (Years) + 5īMR = 10 x 85 + 6.25 x 180 – 5 x 31 + 5 = 1825 Let’s say that you’re a 31-year-old male, 180cm tall, weighing 85kg. If in doubt, take your best estimate and adjust over time. To estimate your physical activity level successfully, you need to be honest with yourself about the amount of exercise your work involves, as well as being honest with yourself about how hard your training sessions are. For example, if you’re a construction worker or a farmer, you might find yourself in the moderate category, even if you never do any formal exercise or training. Now, you might have noticed one small issue with the numbers they only factor in activity through exercise, whereas activity through occupation also plays a significant role. ![]() Luckily, numbers have been well-established over the years, and fall into these guidelines… Sedentary ![]() TDEE = BMR x PAL How Do I Know My Physical Activity Level? The calculation for TDEE actually builds on the calculation for BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which we’ve talked about here, but also factors in how active you are (Physical Activity Level or PAL). So if your goal is to lose weight, gain weight, or even maintain your current weight, TDEE is a fantastic tool for you to use. For weight gain: Calories per day = TDEE plus 500.For weight loss: Calories per day = TDEE minus 500.Knowing your TDEE also means that you can easily calculate how many calories you need to eat in order to lose weight or gain weight. Since maintaining a healthy bodyweight is linked with improved health across a range of markers, TDEE can be a useful tool for looking after your health. Why Does TDEE Matter?īy calculating your TDEE, you know exactly how many calories it takes per day to maintain your bodyweight. It stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure, and it’s the amount of calories that you need per day in order to maintain your current bodyweight once exercise and lifestyle have been factored in. TDEE is, without exaggeration, the most useful tool you’ll come across for weight management, weight loss and muscle building. The destination package came with two exclusive ‘mixers’ with drink tickets, which was fun - met lots of people from out of town. Sure it was expensive, but it made this experience go so much smoother. Thank you all for the love and the effort. I think I enjoyed Open Air a little more to be honest, it was truly an outdoor venue which was one of the reasons I pulled the trigger.Įither way, it'll last a lifetime. Luckily I got in right as I walked in, but I took a picture of the ridiculousness of it. I don't expect 550 to be stateside again, but I do hope it'll be somewhere that I can go so I can meet this beautiful family again.Īs for the venue, the BoC floor merch line was longer than the distance I flew from NYC to LA, I heard people got in during OLAN and finished at A&B. Maybe the look on my face can, because I don't know what to say other than thank you so much. No amount of words can describe just how much I enjoyed this, and I'm sure I'm looking real dumb somewhere on the streams, especially open air. I hope that I have the capacity to remember them whenever next time is, and I hope they remember me. I ran into so many people from all over, even if for just a few moments. I was choked and tearing up, and this music is the only thing that makes me do that these days. I was singing along when the only time I ever sing is in the privacy of my own car. I felt like I had been here before, I was that comfortable dancing amongst a sea of people, despite never doing that. I don't think I can go to any other kind of event honestly, I can't guarantee that the people would be the same.
